First for Hartlepool Deanery
12/06/2009
In a first for Hartlepool deanery, St Hild’s Church of England school hosted the annual confirmation service on Sunday 10th May. Nineteen candidates were confirmed by Bishop Tom and these included members of staff: English teacher, John Wild and the school’s new Headteacher Colin Reid.
Mr Reid explained, "Being the head teacher of a faith school, I feel it is important to show clearly how important my faith is to me. This is an important step on my faith journey."
The school’s chaplain, Laura Henderson, had assisted in preparing some of the younger candidates and in helping to make the event an enormous success.
The packed school hall, with its stunning stained glass windows, provided a fitting setting for the occasion and, afterwards, the newly confirmed assembled for photographs in the school’s memorial garden.
