Hart Project encourages community
22/04/2009
Since Hart village lost its Post Office, the streets have been much quieter in the mornings. People no longer walk on a daily basis to buy newspapers and find those chance meetings where they stop to exchange news and views.
Hart Curate, the Revd Janet Burbury (pictured with some of the volunteers), thought that the central location of St Mary Magdalene church made for an ideal base to help the local community by selling newspapers, stamps, magazines and refreshments from the church.
So, following a feasibility study, promotion of the project with the gift of a pot plant and secured funding from various local businesses and organisations, a group of 17 volunteers now help to run this collaborative venture.
