23/10/2008
Fenwick Lawson's bronze sculpture of the monks bearing St Cuthbert's coffin now sited in Millennium Square, Durham, was unveiled by HRH The Princess Royal on Friday 26th September.
During the cermony, The Dean spoke St Cuthbert and his importance to Durham. He also spoke about the public fund-raising campaign which made the new bronze possible.
Fenwick thanked the many people who had supported his work, not least his wife Joan. He also mentioned the encouragement he had received from Canon Bill Hall of the Arts & Recreation Chaplaincy.

After the unveiling, the Princess was presented with a bronze copy of one of the monks' hands by Fenwick's grandaughter, Alice.
