IME 4-7

Initial Ministerial Education 4-7 / Phase Two training

In the Diocese of Durham we are continuing to develop the training of clergy in the four years following ordination. This period is known as IME 4-7 (Initial Ministerial Education, years 4-7), or Phase Two. We are steadily turning the national recommendations flowing form the ‘Hind’ report (Formation for Ministry Within a Learning Church, 2003), and Shaping the Future (2005) into practice, and we are also working in the context of growing collaboration with the Diocese of Newcastle: the North East Regional Training Partnership, comprising our two dioceses and other churches and training institutions in the North-East, will be running from September 2009.

This year sees some significant changes to the training programme, with a larger number of events taking place, and a much fuller “Year 7” programme for those in the process of transition into positions of responsibility (and open to any who have recently made this move and would like to attend).

All the details of our approach to IME 4-7 and of the events for curates and training incumbents are in the IME 4-7 Handbook. Every curate and training incumbent should have received both an electronic copy by e-mail and a hard copy, and the Handbook is also available (see link below). If you can’t find the information you need, then do please contact me.
