Our purpose is to enable people to live out God’s transforming mission by helping them to discover their vocation, grow in discipleship and thrive as ministers.
To this end we work in four areas:
Enriching theDiscipleship of both laity and clergy.
Recruitment, development and support of Authorised Lay Ministry.
Recruitment, development and support of Ordained Ministry.
Nurture and development of the life, ministry and mission of the Local Church.
The Working Principles of the Council for Ministry Team are:-
to work strategically and effectively with clear aims and high standards of professionalism and accountability.
to be a welcoming and caring support to individuals and groups with whom we are working.
Five Central Themes, reflecting the five Building Blocks of Growing the Kingdom run through all our work.
Spirituality – Ministry is God’s work: we aspire to be spiritually sensitive and aware as we engage with it.
Mission – Ministry is transformative work: we seek God’s glory and God’s kingdom.
Discipleship – Ministry is a common calling: we aim to help people live out their vocation in the world and in the church.
Collaboration - Ministry is a team effort: we intend to model and encourage teamwork in all that we do.
Leadership – Ministry is a journey: we hope to be helpful navigators and good companions as we travel together.
A prayer for the development and support of Christian ministry
Almighty and everlasting God,
by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church
is governed and sanctified:
hear our prayer which we offer
for all your faithful people,
that in their vocation and ministry
they may serve you in holiness and truth
To the glory of your name;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.
