The essence of Christianity

The church’s mission is to proclaim God in Jesus Christ through worship and sharing God’s love for the world. God calls us to be his ministers and responding to God’s call is our prime task as Christians. The recent church of England report Mission Shaped Church and the movement called Fresh Expressions is calling the church to draw on its reading of scripture, its experience and traditions to enable it to serve the generation of the global village, which enjoys instant communication and yet also massive social dislocation.
Board of Ministries and Training
The Board of Ministries and Training are are in business to help people to be in touch with God, understand the faith and receive the necessary encouragement to act out that faith in their lives. All the staff, boards and committees of the diocese work together to support this agenda under the leadership of our bishops, and the focus of the BMT is to assist and support parishes in the development of local and shared ministry, as well as learning for discipleship. We also oversee the discernment, training and support of authorised ministries and advise on matters of policy and strategy for ministries and training.

This section of the website is currently being developed to support this agenda.
