Communications & IT Group
The work of the Communications Group in the Diocese is focused on the desire to support and encourage the various channels through which information flows. This is via the various structures within the Diocese and also the ways in which our church communities seek to engage with the media.
The main vehicle of communication is, of course, this Website, but we also have an e mail network - forum - for those with diocesan or parish responsibility.
To help put a human face to the Diocese, we have a very effective newspaper – Durham Newslink – published bi-monthly which carries stories of the life of our churches, the mission and ministry of the Diocese as well as promoting forthcoming events and reviewing new books etc. An on-line version is available as a pdf – see News & Events.
The Communications Group is also responsible for producing the monthly Cycle of Prayer which helps churches to reflect on the Parishes, their concerns and needs. The Prayer Cycle also includes the dioceses of the Anglican Communion and petitions prayer for current issues in and around our world in areas such as the environment, poverty and injustice, political and religious persecution, etc. Again an on-line version is available – see Faith & Life.
The Diocesan Director of Communications is also available to help Parishes and Localities and encourage them as they develop their communications strategies in sharing the Gospel with their local communities.
