Church Buildings Committee
This committee is a sub-committee of the Diocesan Pastoral Committee. It exists to make grant and loan facilities available to parishes in the Diocese to assist them with the carrying out of repairs, renovation, re-ordering, and improvement of church buildings.
Parishes are asked to complete an application form (click here to download form) and supply the following information:
The costs of the works to be carried out (this should normally be supported by a contractor’s quotation or the estimate of a professional adviser).
Details of how much money the parish has available, both from its own resources/fund raising and from other grant-making bodies.
Details of the insurance cover on the church building: the actual sum insured, and whether this represents the full reinstatement value or a percentage. No support will be given to a church which is covered for less than 75% of its reinstatement value.
Agreed grants and loans will be paid to the PCC on written request, supported by a copy of the relevant invoice(s) and copy of the faculty or other approval where appropriate. The Committee will not make retrospective grants.
The Committee normally meets three times each year. It reports to the Pastoral Committee by presenting its minutes to the first available meeting of that Committee.
